Advantages of LED Beacon Lights

Although safety beacons can be made using a variety of lighting technologies, LED Beacons remain top tier.

Less radio interference

In order to provide light, traditional incandescent beacons must use a high voltage to generate heat inside the filament. This generates quite a bit of electromagnetic interference (EMI), especially compared to the low voltage circuit of an LED beacon light.

Provide strength and durability

An LED light, on average, can last up to 50,000 hours. Compare this to halogens which provide roughly 1,000 hours and xenon bulbs which last anywhere from 2,000 to 2,500 hours, and it’s clear that LED lights are the better option, especially when it comes to warning lights.

LEDs are also resistant to vibrations, shock, and impact from external objects, which makes them an ideal candidate for rougher conditions.

Highest energy efficiency

LED lights are today’s most energy-efficient technology. They use up to 90% less energy and last up to 25 times longer than traditional light sources.

Unlike conventional forms of light, LEDs are able to provide themselves with photons (light particles). They have no filaments or materials that need to be heated to produce light. With LEDs, about 95% of the consumed energy is emitted as light, while only 5% is lost as heat. LED lights are touted for their energy efficiency because the wastage of energy is kept to a minimum.

Ability to operate in cold conditions

Traditional lighting sources are not fond of the cold weather. When the temperature drops, they require a higher voltage to start, and the intensity of the light dwindles.

On the contrary, LED lights perform better in cold temperatures by about 5%. Their ability to perform efficiently in the sweltering summer and cold Canadian winters makes them an ideal choice for heavy-duty vehicles all season long.
